Review of Gush from Lovense

You know the story of the guy who writes a review of Lovense 🦊’s Gush 🛒 without recording anything… And ends up redoing 90% of the work from scratch? Well then… Here we go again!

Lovense’s Gush is the promise of a hands-free orgasm. It’s described as having a perfect design, adaptable to the size of your penis – or that of the wearer – as well as a band for increasing the intensity. With its Bluetooth functionality, it can be remotely controlled.

At first glance, the Gush may appear to be a simple sheath, but functionally it’s a competitor to the Pulse Solo Interactive 🦊. It’s a versatile sextoy, as it can be used hands-free, positioned directly on the penis, encircling it, or as a sheath by making back-and-forth movements.

Gush

Side view of the Lovense Gush. I wish I’d seen this much dust on it before.

To be honest, I’d heard about the Gush long before the Pulse Solo. And it made me want to get my hands on it. However, I didn’t take the plunge. You can use it freehand, perhaps with the elastic band, or with your hands, using back-and-forth movements…

So why didn’t I go in that direction? Fear of not getting my money’s worth. A penis masturbator, we know how it works, what it can feel like, but a vibrator for the frenulum/gland of the penis?

So I have to admit that, as I write these lines, I’m wondering what point there is in doing this article when the Gush 2 🛒 is already available. It’s a powerful evolution that, over and above vibrations, adds an extra dimension with oscillation. And that changes everything. Unfortunately, I haven’t tested it.

The Gush from Lovense is discreet enough to follow you anywhere, thanks to its compact size. It’s made from a single piece, but you can use elastic bands as accessories to hold it in place and concentrate the vibrations.

A single button lets you toggle between on, different pre-recorded patterns, patterns you define and off. Simple and effective!

Ordering and receiving your parcel

Emballage de livraison dans lequel se trouve le coffret du Gush.

It’s been a while since I received a parcel from Lovense. The last one must have been in 2022 when I bought the Edge2🛒with the Dolce🛒 in2022! Well I was surprised to see that they adapt the size of their parcel with the contents. No wasted space in the box or in the delivery truck.

I didn’t receive any notification that the parcel had been sent, but it was at the end of August. Giving you a delivery time then seems complicated but it was very fast and shipped from Germany.

Lovense uses a recognisable theme for its products.

The boxes are white and the company name is on the front, above and pink. Although the font may change over time, the brand is always followed by a little phrase underneath, a maxim from the company. “Sex tech for everyone” or, in this case, “Closing the distance”.

Next is a photo of the product inside the box. In the foreground you can see a sort of green ring with two side wings (which remind me of a stripe) and an elastic band, all in fir green.

Underneath is a wave in a blue to pink gradient, which you’ll find in the remote control application, then underneath the product name, the company name again and finally the product description. Here, an acorn massager that can be controlled via Bluetooth.

The main features of Gush are explained. Or almost all of them.

The Gush’s main material is silicone🦊. It’s a healthy, flexible and, in this case, soft material. It allows the strong vibrations of the motor to be propagated completely protected from water. You can use the Gush in the shower, in the bath, it’s safe. However, don’t take the opportunity to tell yourself that you can disinfect it by boiling it like any other silicone sextoy. That would be a bad idea and could cause the battery to explode. The Gush comes with a one-year guarantee (unless you blow it up by boiling it) and finally, it’s advertised as being discreet.

A description of the Gush then appears in English, French, Spanish, German, Cyrillic alphabet (Russian?) and finally in Japanese. It highlights the fact that the Gush adapts to the size of the penis it accommodates. This is due to the fact that its flexible wings spread out and follow the shape of the penis.

Finally, a reference to the remote control app, Lovense Remote, is provided, indicating that it is available for Android as well as iOS. In addition, the box contains the Lovense Gush, a proprietary charging cable, a user manual, an elastic band and a storage and transport bag.

The Gush is protected in its box by fairly firm white foam. Apart from this intruder, here are the other items in the box.

Gush

The first thing you need to know is that the Gush is a toy made from materials that are healthy for the user. That said, if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t belong on my blog. As it stands, the main (but not only) material is silicone, which is quite soft and velvety. There’s also a silver plastic (ABS 🦊) with the Lovense logo and a small metal part that acts as a magnetic charging port.

From a technical point of view, here are the product specifications:

Materials: Silicone + ABS
Battery: Rechargeable Li-ion battery (capacity undisclosed)
Charging time: just over one hour
Battery life: 115 minutes maximum
Water resistant: Yes, IPX7
Features: Vibrations, 3 pre-recorded vibration strengths, ten customised patterns.
Weight: 133g
Dimensions: 8.6cm x 5.2cm x 5.2cm

USB recharging cable

Câble USB pour recharger le Gush avec un port magnétique comme pour de nombreux autres sextoys de Lovense

As far as I’m concerned, the Gush arrived with almost flat batteries. So I started by recharging it. There was no noticeable complexity. Charging is done via a magnetic port, and it holds well enough (even better than the Pulse). All you need is a powered USB plug and your Gush is ready for a one-hour recharge cycle. Of course, the fact that the plug is magnetic means that Lovense has made the Gush a toy that can be used in the shower or bath! Finally, are there any toys from this brand that aren’t compatible?

During this time, the LED will remain red for as long as it needs charging, before finally going out.

The cable is a standard length of about one metre.

Quick start guide

Manuel utilisateur du Gush pour le prendre en main rapidement.

Some basic information is provided. These include how to charge the Gush, how to switch it on and off using the single button, how to clean it, and how to use it hands-free or with movements. There are also a few safety precautions, a QR code for the official application and an explanatory drawing of the Gush.

So clearly, just cleaning the Gush with clear water… It’s no good. I’ll talk about this later in another section, but water alone doesn’t clean much.

Storage bag

Measuring 15*16cm, this glossy black fabric bag closes with a drawstring. There’s no Lovense logo on it, so if you have more than one, you’ll have to feel around to find out what’s inside.

Optional holding strip

Deux bandes élastiques permettant de maintenir en place / serrer plus le Gush sur le membre avec un beau Lovense marqué dessus…

It says on the box that there’s only one band but I found two… They’re elastic enough to be properly stretched but they snap back into place to keep the Gush in position. Perhaps a little too tight, they can pinch my member… There’s a good idea in these bands but it’s not gone all the way.

Lovense Remote

Lovense Remote lets you take control of the Gush via Bluetooth. But it’s not just a question of taking control from the application. You can record custom patterns that can be used offline, use patterns from the community, control your toy or give control to a third party.

Adding Gush to Lovense Remote

Add Gush to Lovense Remote to add a model available offline.

Adding the Gush takes just a few clicks and a tiny handful of seconds. As soon as it is switched on, it is instantly recognised by the application.

Lovense’s strength lies not only in its products, but also in its application, which connects people. My aim is not to give a feedback on the application, but here are the most important points.

Main menu

The “Home” tab gives you quick access to :

  • control your Gush (with the option of looping),
  • access four pre-recorded models (pulse, wave, fireworks, earthquake) or those you record yourself,
  • generate and publish (publicly or anonymously) a control link for your toy,
  • synchronise your toy with a sound or music from your device.

Application gallery

Whether you want to control your Gush via a game of 2048, Tetris, Flappy Bird (well, it’s a dragon here) or just collect points to spin a roulette wheel and maybe win a new toy… Well, the choice is yours.

Clearly, I never thought I’d play a game of 2048 while synchronising a sextoy. That’s unbeliveable.

Long distance

Add your soulmate, your “friends”, strangers you’ve just met through a remote control… This is where you can restart sessions with contacts, chat or send media…

This could involve a real-time control session, synchronising toys or playing pre-recorded models on sex toys.

Discover

This tab is a bit of a catch-all. Once again, it lets you control the connected toy (using models made available by the community, remote control like “roulette”, controlling your toy according to the volume picked up by your microphone, according to your speed). However, it can also be used to access ‘interactive’ videos (meaning that it vibrates according to a script of pre-recorded videos) or to make a wish list of Lovense sex toys or give a toy as a gift to someone.

Me

The last tab allows you to configure your profile, access help, follow Lovense on the networks, log out, etc.

Cleaning

The Gush is a toy with electronics and, more importantly, a battery. It is therefore strictly forbidden to put it in boiling water or in the dishwasher to disinfect it. At best, the risk would be to damage the battery, at worst: BANG.

To clean your sextoy, use lukewarm water, soap, your fingers and a lint-free towel to dry it afterwards.

If you’re using the Lovense Gush ‘hands-free’, there’s no need to use lubricant, and you won’t necessarily have to clean it after each session (although it’s better from a hygiene point of view). However, if you’re using it to move back and forth, the use of lubricant is more than recommended. And of course, for a silicone toy, water-based lubricant is the way to go!

All fluids must be cleaned after use, and the fact that the fins are flexible means that it is easy to clean.

Use

At last we get to the heart of the matter! Introducing the toy and the application is all well and good, but knowing how to play with it… And stimulating the penis as well as the frenulum, that’s even better!

Positioning

You don’t need to have studied long and hard to put the Gush on your penis… Simply position it under the penis, spread the green wings and insert yourself.

The most effective way is to have the motorisation part of the Gush positioned at the frenulum, but after that, it’s up to you to decide what suits you best! The only thing you have to be careful about is making sure that the base of the Gush is pointing towards your testicles… But there’s nothing to stop it being used the other way round.

Secondly, it’s as easy to use as a multi-function button, allowing you to switch on and off with a 3-second press, or change the pattern with a single press.

As far as I’m concerned, I don’t need the band for the way I use the Gush. On the contrary, I don’t like the band, as it tends to pinch the Gush against the skin of my penis. What’s more, if you’re using the Gush with back-and-forth movements, it’s not advisable to use the support band.

On the other hand, I suppose it could be useful on larger penises… But I don’t have that need.

With no back and forth, using the Gush as a vibrator positioned on your frenulum, there will be no need to use lubricant🦊. It makes for less cleaning afterwards, and for all that, orgasm will still be within reach. Well, no, actually… You won’t need your hands.

Noise level

The Gush switches from one mode to another by first switching to the pre-recorded models and then to those you have defined in the application. For this video, I simply took control of it. For the measurement, on the other hand, I switched between the different modes.

Note that my desk, which I use for teleworking, gaming and writing these reviews, has a noise level ranging from 38dB when I’m thinking (and the PC fan is blowing) to 58dB when I’m typing on my mechanical keyboard. If I position my keyboard and the Gush at a similar distance from the sound level meter, here are the different noise levels I can read.

Well, surprisingly enough, the Gush oscillated between 42 and 46dB maximum throughout the tests carried out. It should be noted that the power provided by the Gush has little influence on the sound level. That’s a very good point compared to the Pulse Solo Interactive, which is much less discreet with its 62dB at full power.

Clearly, if discretion is one of your criteria, the Gush meets it with flying colours: well done Lovense!

Gush of Legends

When I started writing Gush, I’d totally overlooked the possibility of having pre-recorded models that can be used offline… And not being in a long-distance relationship, app-controlled toys have little use in my relationship.

However, I did wonder how I could use the Gush in a fun way… I’ll be writing an article about it soon (I hope) but to put it simply, it’s possible to use the Gush during a game of League of Legends. Well, that or another game, thanks to two tools in particular: Intiface and Playful Plugins.

The list of games compatible with Lovense products via Playful Plugins is now as follows: Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Elden Ring, Helldivers 2, Peggle Deluxe, Kinky Dungeon, Ero Dungeons, PowerWash Simulator, Black Myth Wukong”. Well, it’s your turn to play!

Is two better?

The Gush is a toy that can be synchronised with your partner’s toy. This can make for slightly naughtier sessions via Lovense Remote or Xtoys.app .

The range is then increased tenfold as you can synchronise your vibrations with those of another toy, your sensations synchronised with those of another person… Clearly, the Lovense Remote application is one of the reasons why Lovense is at the top of the market today.

Personal opinion on the Gush

A discreet orgasm

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve already got a good hard-on or a flaccid penis. It’s flexible and open enough to adapt to the wearer’s morphology. On the other hand, if your penis is flaccid, you’ll still have to hold the toy in your hand… Although the vibrations are, for my taste, less interesting in terms of stimulation than the oscillations, it’s still enjoyable. And it allows you to build up your orgasm step by step.

Clearly, you can’t expect a devastating orgasm with this sextoy. I haven’t had a session where I ended up gasping because of the excitement it provoked or the power of the orgasm. But it’s still a very good way of getting off, whether or not you use your hands. On the other hand, I’m not circumcised. And for people who are, I doubt that the Gush is powerful enough to provide sufficient stimulation.

The addition of a band could potentially be useful for some people, but as far as I’m concerned, using them has been unpleasant, causing pinching. Still, you can be sure that it will stay in place.

but without a grand finale

The vibrations are present… but diffuse. They spread throughout the toy without concentrating on a precise point, and that’s my biggest regret. By vibrating ‘everywhere’ at the same time, the Gush doesn’t focus specifically on one area. So you can’t really position it effectively in one place.

So it may avoid over-stimulation, but it gives me the impression that I’m missing out on the final bouquet that some sex toys can offer. In the end, if you have reduced sensitivity due to using more ‘aggressive’ toys, the Gush won’t be your ally.

Availability

The Gush🛒went on sale on 18 November 2021 by Lovense. So this review comes much too late… But that’s the way it is!

It’s available for €159, but… You’ll almost always find it at a real price of around €79. Lovense’s sales practices mean that “no, they’re not having a continuous sale”… Or maybe they are? If you’re prepared to wait a week…

Conclusion

Points positifs

  • Small footprint
  • Discreet!!!
  • “Look hands-free”
  • Frenulum stimulation
  • Completely waterproof
  • Easy to clean

Points négatifs

  • Diffuse, unfocused stimulation
  • Lack of power
  • Vibrations less effective than oscillations.
  • More complicated on a flaccid penis, but it can be done.
  • Still takes up space in the boxer shorts!

Clearly, writing a review of Gush at the time of Gush 2 is not necessarily the smartest thing to do. For all that, Lovense entrusted me with a Gush, and I was only too slow to write a review. But if you have the choice, and an extra £20 in your wallet, there’s almost no doubt that the Gush 2 would be a better choice.

For all that, the Gush remains a safe bet. It’s discreet, both in terms of the space it takes up and the noise it makes, but it’s effective in its action and allows a multitude of interactions.

Without taking price into account, I prefer the Pulse Solo Interactive, despite the much more unpleasant noise. But if you take the price difference into account, the Gush comes out on top. That’s why I think the Gush 2 must be really incredible, because it offers dual stimulation at a price that’s still affordable.
