Review of the Tenga Original Vacuum Cup

Why introduce you to Tenga Original Vacuum Cup today? It’s a disposable sextoy, and as a result the ecological impact is really not that great. A single-use toy that goes against the editorial line I wanted to set up on this blog.

Preferably, I want to present you with toys that can last over time. And as a result, these non-disposable toys are more expensive, requiring a slightly greater investment. In fact, I prefer to talk about those toys that make a hole in the wallet, so that you can make a good decision.

Anyway, Tenga offered to include this penis masturbator in a parcel sent to me. Having no experience of this type of toy, I jumped at the chance. This will be my chance to review a single-use toy. Finally, on a few toys, you’ll see the rest in other reviews.

It’s a bit long to talk about the Tenga Original Vacuum Cup every time. And with them, it comes out under the reference TOC-201. So let’s assume, you and I, that when I talk about TOC, I’m referring to this product.

It’s a manual penis masturbator that also offers suction inside the sleeve. Basically, a penis masturbator is a duct, textured or not, which, when you insert your member, will try to get the air out. In this case, the TOC uses a hole to let the air escape and then, by plugging it with your finger, to create an air vacuum when you withdraw.

Tenga sent me half a dozen products to test in a reinforced cardboard box in which each item was protected. In fact, apart from its bulky appearance, the parcel was completely standard. There was no mention of the contents. I’ll mention this if you’re nervous about ordering online. If you’re worried about someone else receiving or seeing the parcel.

No problem with Tenga, like many others, the parcels are unmarked.

Even without the logo, whether it’s the look or the colours, this toy is easily recognisable. The red hourglass shape combined with the grey stripes leave no doubt.

The toy is very light, weighing just 122 grams and measuring 15 centimetres high and 7 centimetres wide.

The plastic used for the case is polyethylene (PE). This material is hard enough to keep its original shape, but if enough pressure is applied, the plastic will deform and then reposition itself.

A plastic film runs all the way round the product, which is actually red and grey, with various markings. The PE is completely white throughout.

“New adult concept”, announcing in a roundabout way that you have a sextoy, without embarrassment or shame. The aim is to please yourself, alone or in a relationship, it doesn’t matter.

The TOC is pre-lubricated and comes with a three-image user manual. This is followed by recommendations and limitations in English, French, German and Spanish.

It is explained that it is a “pleasure item”, in other words a sextoy. It is disposable (very important!), should be kept out of reach of children and should not be used for anything other than its original purpose.

Nothing very important, apart from the manual to help you understand how to use the Original Vacuum Cup by Tenga.

On the top of the Tenga Original Vacuum Cup there is a sticker that must be removed. It gives access to a hole that allows air to escape from the sleeve during insertion. Then, by plugging the hole with your index finger, you create a suction force during removal.

On the bottom of the TOC, there is a pull-tab to remove a plastic film. This gives access to a cap which, when removed, gives access to the ‘pleasure’ zone.

No need to lubricate it, it’s ready to go! The flexible texture of the TPE sleeve has an area that accommodates a disc of foam. And this foam has been filled with the brand’s lubricant. What’s interesting here is that this foam will be stimulated during your movements and will ‘release’ the lubricant as you go along.

I have several things to say… And I don’t necessarily know which way to go.

First of all, for those who noticed the hole in the top. I don’t know if it’s related to my handling when using it, when removing the sleeve from the case, or if it’s a design fault… But we’re talking about a single-use toy. So if there’s a hole, that’s clearly the least of my worries.

Edit: according to feedback from Tenga, these are two holes, one at the top of the duct, the other at the bottom, which control the suction (vacuum) in the duct.

Secondly, the sleeve as I present it to you has been turned inside out ‘like a sock’. Inside out. Because if I’d shown you the outer sleeve, you wouldn’t have seen any of the textures.

Clearly, I was surprised by the number of different textures on offer and by the fact that they didn’t just reproduce the same texture over 360°.

• The spikes at the entrance are sufficiently raised, basic but effective.
• The rings that follow could be a little more raised, but they serve their purpose.
• The little raspberries ‘massage’ the glans, which is the first time I’ve come across this.
• The firm, ridged half-disc adds an extra dimension of stimulation.

Just to be clear, I took it apart out of curiosity. You don’t have to, it’s a single-use product. You can’t reuse it, as I’ll explain in the next section.

Anyway, I wanted to know how it worked inside.

The TPE sleeve is quite thin, and the expansion as a function of the limb passing through the sleeve is made possible by the foam used, which will compress and leave room.

I’ve already mentioned the first ring of foam (which contains the lubricant), and there are two more, at the level of the suction valve.

The materials are simple but I found the design ingenious.

As I said earlier, this is a disposable toy. It’s not designed to be cleaned.

And this is true both in terms of the design and the materials used. The TPE sleeve has been glued and sealed at the very bottom of the device.

I had to use a cutter to cut the sleeve to get at what was inside the product. Also, when I was cutting it, I broke the gasket that provided the air vents.

What’s more, the foams used don’t allow you to clean the inside of the product. Water can pass through the tears in the TPE into the foam. Fluids, and therefore bacteria, can proliferate there without you being able to clean properly.

On the other hand, Tenga offers other toys that are reusable, which I’ll mention in other reviews.

This sextoy is as easy to use as almost any penis masturbator. Although the entrance looks relatively small (1.5cm in diameter), it’s actually expandable and shouldn’t leave anyone at the door. Except possibly for a flaccid penis, which will only have a little more difficulty.

All you have to do is present the orifice, insert your organ and start moving back and forth, adding a little rotation as the mood takes you. The fingers naturally take up their position around it, with the index finger on top to block or release the hole to manage the suction.

Lubricant is gradually released through a small foam insert at the entrance.

When you’ve finished, simply replace the lid and dispose of the evidence in the bin.

My first impressions are fairly positive. Tenga’s Original Vacuum Cup is easy to open and the plastic removes easily. The lubricant already present makes it easy to use.

However, in detail, I noticed some small holes around the outside of the sleeve, and after cutting, I saw another one on the sleeve. It’s not a big deal, it’s a disposable toy.

I found the toy noisy. Let’s be clear, it’s a manual… So it will make more or less the noise you ask it to make. Where I used it, the ambient sound was 40dB. In (quiet) use, I was at 50dB and for very sustained use, I was at 70dB. That’s more or less what you get with an automatic sextoy. It’s comparable to the noise of a hoover.

With the use of the small hole to manage the fluctuation of air in the duct, we end up with frightening metrics. 80dB when used sensibly, 100dB when used full blast. That’s louder than the noise generated by a leaf blower if you’re one metre away from it.

What’s more, at this point, a piece of the foam disc containing the lubricant started to come out of the lens.

So the noise produced is not the most glamorous as far as I’m concerned.

As is often the case, I recommend buying the product directly from the manufacturer. This is a single-use toy, so there’s less point. However, if you need to call on customer service, you’re better off buying directly from Tenga than from a normal retailer.

I won’t be building up an arsenal of Tenga Original Vacuum Cups. The price seems too high. However, once in a while, if you don’t mind the noise, why not?

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a real turn-off. It made me laugh the first time during the test with the dildo, but it bothered me during the more real test. Still, it in no way detracts from the recreational use of this penis masturbator.

So out of curiosity, yes it’s still something to try. The textures are good and the sleeve is tight enough to offer something interesting. However, I think it’s a shame to produce, to buy, for a single use. It’s a lot of waste for a momentary pleasure.
